We started our year with an amazing trip to Africa. I came back with loads of pictures and loads of inspiration. While travelling I received some wonderful emails which re-enforced that I am never very far away from my work in the art world. I was notified of two publications of my work: one in a Chinese Art Magazine, and one in an American Art magazine (International Artist). I was also notified of a sale (one of my pieces in China) and of acceptance into an exhibition in Bulgaria. What a great month all around. I love that I can travel half way around the world and still feel so in touch with my passion for art.
This is a piece that I finished just before my departure to Africa. It was inspired by a trip to Japan. I loved the detail of her Kimono, and the drama of the light, so those are what became important to emphasize. Hope you like it.

Yippee! I was finally accepted...and can't pass up on the opportunity to take it all in with a trip to NYC. 
I sent this piece off today and I hope to follow in April, to be there for the awards dinner on the 15th, should be quite the celebration.

2015! Hard to believe. Thinking back on last year I have good thoughts, it was a great year all around, lots of travel, good health and an upward slope when it comes to successes with my art career. 2014 brought publications in Splash 15 and a mention in Artist Magazine, lots of exhibitions including ones overseas, and teaching (most memorably to some wonderful children at a school in Guatemala). I look forward to the upcoming year and all the possibilities it might bring. I hope to reach my many personal/career goals such as increased gallery representation,  more teaching, and raise the medium of watercolour painting to the prominence it deserves.
